Digital Resource: Melbourne tram videos 

This digital resource supports Learning Experience 1 by helping students explore how trams are used in everyday city life before the excursion. The videos and website show that trams are used by many different people and connect places across Melbourne. This broadens students’ understanding of trams beyond simple transport and introduces links between transport, people and community life. It prepares students to compare modern tram use with Bendigo Tramways and helps them notice how trams can be used differently depending on the character and needs of a place.

Visual Resource: Bendigo tram tour map

This visual resource supports Learning Experience 1 by helping students see how the tram tour connects different parts of Bendigo. The map shows that the tram links not only the depot area but also other important places in the city, including attractions and community spaces. This helps students understand that Bendigo Tramways is more than a transport experience; it also connects people to the city’s stories, landmarks and tourism sites. Digital Resource: Canva

This digital resource supports Learning Experience 2 by giving students a flexible way to create and communicate their tram idea for their local community. Canva allows students to label, edit and redesign their ideas easily, which supports experimentation and creative thinking. Unlike a fixed drawing, it allows students to change features, add text and organise their ideas clearly. It also supports different ways of learning, as students can communicate visually as well as through writing. This helps students turn their reflection on Bendigo Tramways into a clear and creative community-focused design.

Physical/Text/Visual Resource 2: Reflection and tram planning sheet

This text-based resource supports Learning Experience 2 by guiding students through reflection and planning. The first section helps students revisit what they learned at Bendigo Tramways and connect the excursion to ideas about place, people and community. The second section supports students in transferring that learning into a tram idea for their own local area. Rather than simply telling students to “think,” the scaffold gives direction and structure. The optional idea board also supports students who need help getting started, while still encouraging independence, confidence and more community-focused thinking.
